Breast Cancer Awareness Photos | Stuart FL photographer

Today marks 25 years since my beautiful mother passed away from breast cancer.  I've had so many mixed emotions about this today.  The day prompted me to look for photos of my mom and me together while I was growing up.  I found only a few.

It made me so sad.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her like crazy.  She was a beautiful and loving person.  We spent a lot of time together, as mothers and daughters do.  So where are the photos?

I found one from when I was a baby.  It's one I had already created a scrapbook layout with (and was published in a scrapbook magazine).  I found only a couple of others that were so blurry or faded that you could barely even tell it was us.

I went through so many albums and photo boxes today, looking for some photos.  Even photos of just my mom seemed to be nearly non-existent.  Surely at some point we must have had family photos taken. I know we went to some family events where we had family pictures taken.  I keep asking myself, "Where are they?"

As a photographer, and as the family memory keeper, I can't believe I never realized this lack of pictures before.  Also, I can't believe that I haven't done more with my own family, to make sure that we have family photos.  Yes, we have some pictures.  But now I realize we don't have enough.  And I realize that I have been behind the camera too often, and not in the pictures with my family enough!

Well, this is going to change.  From here on out, I vow to be in pictures with my boys, my husband, my father and step-mother, and others who are important in my life.  What about you?

In an effort to raise awareness of this problem, one of moms and daughters not being in enough photos together, I am offering a contest on Instagram, for high school senior girls in the class of 2015.

Here is the image that I posted on Instagram today along with the details of the contest:
lBreast cancer awareness - take photos with your mother!
This is what I wrote on Instagram:  25 years ago today my beautiful mother passed away from breast cancer. After looking through numerous albums and boxes I realized there are virtually no pictures of the two of us together. It made me so sad. Because of this I decided to offer a very special giveaway to one #2015seniorgirl and her mom. You will win a photoshoot, makeover, and 16x24 gallery wrapped canvas for you and your mom. Here's what to do: follow me on IG, comment (in IG) about how special your mom is, repost this post, and tag me. On October 8th I will select the winner. Must be within 25 miles of Stuart, FL
So if you happen to know a high school senior girl that you think would like to have a professional photoshoot, makeover, and gallery wrapped canvas for her and her mom, please send her to my Instagram page.
Here's the link:  http://instagram.com/amy_tara

And please give your mom a huge hug.  Whether you live in Stuart, FL or  Anchorage, AK or anywhere in between or beyond, make sure your mom knows how much you love her.  You never know when life may take "that" turn.

One more thing, check you ta-ta's!  It's so very important.  Breast cancer isn't something to take a chance with.  Get the girls checked!  It can save your life!

Thanks for stopping by today!  ~

Sunny Time Stables with Alice for Senior Pictures in Palm City

I have so many incredible pictures from Alice's senior portrait session at Sunny Time Stables in Palm City.  Erica was kind enough to let us use her beautiful white Thoroughbred horse, Sky, for Alice's Tribal Goddess look.  Those are some of my favorite pictures, ever!!

We also had the opportunity to photograph Alice in some additional outfits while on the grounds of the stables.  This is one of my absolute favorites.  She looked so adorable in her black hat and the lighting was just lovely... thank goodness for overcast Florida days!

I love how the deep colors of the gray eye makeup and the black hat really make Alice's blue eyes pop! That, with her white blonde hair... so gorgeous! She reminds me a little bit of Cristina Aguilera.

Go ahead, take a peek!

Native American Headdress and White Horse for High School Senior Pictures in Palm City

Alice chose to have her high school senior portrait LUXE session with Thoroughbred horse, Sky, and her white feather Native American headdress.  She wore a white boho inspired outfit along with gold accents in her jewelry.  The gold tips on the white feathers of the headdress were the perfect finishing touch.

With all of Sky's strength and power, Alice had a challenge controlling him for us to get the pictures we were looking for.  Photographing a horse is definitely an interesting experience.  There are a number of outtakes from this photo shoot that I will cherish forever because I caught Alice laughing and making faces at the horse when he would not cooperate.  They are truly some fun pictures.

We were so lucky to have found a ranch that allowed us to photograph on their property.  Even after we finished the Native American boho them of the LUXE session, we stayed there to photograph Alice in some of her other outfits... one more stunning than the next.

I must admit, this is probably my favorite portrait session to date.  My lens LOVES Alice!  I can't wait until she comes over for her image premiere!

This is one of my personal favorites from Alice's photo session.

Prom Season is in Full Swing with Riviera Beach Maritime Academy

We were so happy to see some of the students from Riviera Beach Maritime Academy join us in Memorial Park in downtown Stuart of Friday night for Prom 2014 pictures.  It's quite a drive for them to come up here for their pictures so we feel especially fortunate to have such wonderful clients.

Cassie was sparkling from head to toe... literally!  Even her bubbly personality seemed to sparkle in her prom pictures.  She looked like a princess.

Stephen's hair.  Need I say more.  He's got that swag!  He looked great and I love how his tie coordinated with Emily's dress.  Stephen is such a great guy!

Emily wore Converse sneakers in turquoise with her prom gown.  Oh my, did that look great!  What a creative and clever twist to the otherwise formal air.  I love how her prom dress swirled in the wind as she danced around.  And yes, we even got some pictures of her smiling (for dad!)

Here are a few of the delightful prom pictures of these three:

Prom 2014 Couple - love their style!

Friends having fun on prom night!

Emily and Stephen on the bridge in their Prom 2014 attire.  Don't you just love the Converse sneakers?!

Emily in her beautiful mermaid style turquoise prom gown

Cassie was sparkling in her beautiful tulle prom gown.

A favorite photo from prom night.

Gorgeous Cassie looking over the railing of the bridge at Memorial Park in Stuart.
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at some of the fun we had taking prom pictures with our Riviera Beach Maritime Academy students.   We loved seeing how beautiful everyone looked and more importantly, how gorgeous they all felt.

If you would like to book prom pictures in the park for Martin County High School or Jensen Beach High School proms, please contact us ASAP.  We have a few spots left each night.

Flashback Friday to last Spring and Erika's Senior Portrait Photos in Stuart

Last Spring was super busy with all kinds of senior portrait photo sessions.  We were doing photo shoots for both 2013 graduates and the incoming seniors of the Class of 2014.  It never ceases to amaze me that some folks will leave their senior portraits to the end of senior year.  Most high school seniors try to book their sessions for the summer and fall, but we do have some that wait until the Spring of graduation year.
Erika is one of our 2014 high school seniors who had her session last Spring.  Yes, there are some who choose to do their photo session with us quite early, too.  Erika's beautiful hazel green eyes sparkle in every image.  I can honestly say that her photo shoot was one of my very favorites to date.  Jessica, our makeup artist and hair stylist, created a natural look for Erika which just enhances her already beautiful features.  You see, airbrush makeup and natural tones do a perfect job in creating photo ready, photo perfect makeup.  I love that Erika chose to go the natural route because it suits her style.   Here is one of her favorite images from our shoot.
Hazel green eyes and flowers in her hair... a natural, down to earth look for Class of 2014 senior, Erika.
If you have a moment, please leave Erika some love.
I would love to hear from you.  Please email, text, or call me to book your perfect senior portrait photo session with us.  You will love the whole experience and your images will rock your world!

High School Senior Photography of Ryanne Wearing an Elegant Blue Dress

As high school senior portrait photographers we strive to make every session unique and personalized.  It's so important to us that our seniors not only LOVE their photos, but LOVE the experience as well.  We want to ensure that they come away with feeling like they've been walking on the moon.  What's important to you in your senior portraits?  We'd love to hear from you!
We were excited when Ryanne arrived at our studio for her portrait session.  She chose a glamour in-studio session to complement her elegant blue gown.  She truly is a dream to photograph... I mean, look at her.  She is a natural in front of the camera.  I just love her style, too.  She's elegant, but not overdone.  Her makeup looked amazing thanks to her friend and makeup artist Kaitlyn Mary Rice.  We loved working with Ryanne. This image is my personal favorite from our session.
Gorgeous green eyes and elegant blue gown on high school senior Ryanne.  She is perfection!
We're so proud that Ryanne chose to work with us!  Thanks for rocking it out, girly!!!  xo
On another note, if you haven't already picked up the March issue of Marie Claire magazine, you should run out and get it.  It is chock full of great fashion and great articles!  In particular, there is a write up of women business owners:  how they started, their passion, how they make it work, etc.  It's terrific reading.  I am so inspired by these women.  One of my favorite online stores is Modcloth.  Modcloth and it's founder/ owner, Susan Gregg Koeger, are a part of this article.  It's a great read and great place to shop for your senior portrait fashion!  Check it out - page 198.  The whole section in the magazine is titled "@ Work", and features a number of other women entrepreneurs who will surely inspire you, too!

Senior Pictures Posing Ideas Published in Senior Style Guide by Jupiter Portrait Photographer

Our article featuring our senior portrait clients was published this month in Senior Style Guide magazine.  I am so ecstatic I can't even tell you.  It is so surreal to see ones photography, high school senior photography, be published in an international photography magazine.  Holding it in my hands I actually cried.  I can't believe how gorgeous my seniors' pictures look in the magazine.  We've got four full double-page layouts.  Yup, that's right... eight pages of our senior portrait goodness!  Humbled... beyond words.  Thanks for letting me share!
